The For the Liberty series is part of the graduation exhibition held at Idyllwild Arts Academy. The summer of 2021, when I had no choice but to come to Idyllwild, leaving behind my happy and seemingly perfect high school life in Korea, was an intensely emotional time for me. As I revisited and painted memories I had always tried to avoid, the process felt therapeutic. By facing and expressing these memories, I began this series not only to graduate from Idyllwild Arts but also to liberate myself from those memories—seeking freedom and closure from that chapter of my life.
